Route Sales Representative

We are looking for a self-motivated sales professional to service existing accounts and grow new business in Missouri and Kansas through our Van Sales Program.

 

Contrast Equipment is a well known distributor of industrial painting and coating equipment. The Route Sales Rep will assist with equipment start-up and troubleshooting, inventory maintenance, equipment delivery and pick-up, and will provide weekly reports to management.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Sales experience is preferred but not required.

Sales Representative/Account Manager

Contrast is looking for a motivated sales representative who enjoys the challenge of selling paint finishing products and equipment to industrial customers.

 

A good mechanical aptitude is a necessity, and a proactive, self-reliant approach to managing customers is essential. You must also have a willingness to work hard and get your hands dirty occasionally to demonstrate and troubleshoot equipment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must travel regularly (depending on home office location) to properly manage and expand the customer base for designated product lines in their assigned sales territory.
  • Set goals and objectives, and make planned, regular sales and development calls to key areas throughout the territory to familiarize existing and potential customers with Contrast’s distributed products, systems and applications.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with factory representatives for designated Contrast product lines in making sales calls or other activities related to the product line.
  • Cooperate with other Contrast sales engineers to exchange information and identify opportunities to expand product sales. Attend sales meetings and appropriate training meetings as scheduled. Extensive training and related travel required during the first six to twelve months of employment.
  • Submit a weekly call planner every Monday morning and weekly expense report/sales call report weekly. Customer names, companies and key information to be kept in customer contact data base on regular basis.
  • Maintain a home office and communicate in a timely and effective manner with customers and appropriate Contrast support people. Spend less than one day a week in your home office during prime selling time (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

 

Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Previous sales experience or ability to learn sales skills necessary to communicate with customers in a way that effectively describes Contrast’s capabilities and value to the customer.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and understand Contrast’s products and applications.
  • Ability to work as a team member with Customer Service and other Contrast personnel.
  • Mathematical ability sufficient to calculate pricing, including discounts, percentages, determine gross profit margins and other cost considerations.
  • Ability to learn and use computers and relevant software, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
  • Fluency in written and oral English. Ability to read parts manuals and blueprints, and to communicate technical information. Ability to prepare accurate proposals and quotations.
  • Valid drivers license with driving record acceptable to Contrast insurance company.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Ability to effectively demonstrate equipment Contrast sells.
  • At times, must be able to work in an environment with possible paint and solvent odors present.

 

Required experience:

Previous paint finishing and fluid handling sales experience preferred but not required: 1 year
